Ssumier S Pasricha, known for his Pammi Aunty avatar, is just as funny and sarcastic in real life as he is when he's got his oversized glasses, rollers and face pack on.
In a candid conversation, Pammi Aunty aka Ssumier spoke to TimesofIndia.com about his new ventures, TV shows and career:
Q: You have been all over the social media for quite some time now.
How difficult is it to make people laugh on live shows than on internet?
A: It's difficult to make people laugh. People now are intelligent, they won't laugh on anything you serve them. I believe the content has to be important. You need to hit the right chord with the audience.
Q: How did you come up with the concept of Pammi Aunty?A: One fine day I was exploring snap chat, I discovered a few filters and really liked them. Then, I started writing a few lines with it, uploaded it on social media and people started liking it. And that's how Pammi Aunty came to my rescue.
Q: Have you considered playing some other character than Pammi Aunty?A: Yes, absolutely. I am working on it and soon you will see lots of other characters in Pammi Aunty's life.
Q: How easy or difficult it is to entertain the audience as a woman?A: To entertain the audience, it is always difficult, not just as a woman or a man. The viewers have access to a lot of platforms these days due to the internet. You have to be really careful before serving the audience.
Q: Is Pammi Aunty to be seen on TV anytime soon?A: I doubt if Pammi Aunty will come on TV but yes, Ssumier definitely will. It is difficult to get Pammi Aunty on television. She is an interactive character as she's usually on the phone. So to come live, she will need someone who is equally interactive.
Q: You have done shows like 'Sasural Simar Ka', 'Code Red', when will you be seen back on TV?A: I am dying to be back on TV. I wanted to do lots of comedy which I am doing, so yes, I proved myself there. Now, I would love to be back with something serious and meaningful again. I can't get away with the 'Naagins' and 'Daayans'. Till the time my role is important, I don't care.
Q: Has Pammi Aunty helped you in your career?A: Of course. People who didn't know me before, know me now. Pammi Aunty has got me on the world map.
Q: Who is your favourite comedian on TV?A: I like
Sunil Grover. Whenever I have seen '
The Kapil Sharma Show', it was only for Sunil.
